David’s first memories of yoga was his father in headstand and clambering next to him in his diaper trying to copy! For many years after that David practiced with his father who has never really attended any studio classes and has had a steady daily self practice even to this day.

After many years of competitive running for school and college David developed many injuries from not stretching properly. His physiotherapist at the time suggested that he try hot yoga, he did this for a few years but felt that there was something lacking in the spiritual side of that practice. In 2012 David met his teacher Mark Kan at a London studio and has been practising on a regular daily basis since then. David personally believes that yoga is beneficial for all, whether you are young or a senior, and that the only limitations are the ones we set for ourselves…

In Spring 2015 David completed his first teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala South India, and in the following autumn of that year went to New York and completed his 500 hour advanced teacher training in dharma yoga, with the legendary Sri Dharma Mittra. 2015 was a defining year for David; he left his job in the city to focus on helping others to find the amazing benefits of having a regular yoga practice. David likes to think that he has followed in the footsteps of Sri Dharma Mittra and his teacher who both have a background in Sivananda Yoga.

David has since completed many trainings in yoga, pranayama and meditation to further develop his practice and improve his knowledge on how the body works. David is also a body worker and a certified advanced Thai massage therapist. He incorporates some elements of this in his teaching style, especially when adjusting and helping clients get in some of the more challenging asanas.
